Yeah, I noticed Gemma 2 as #12 on the LMSYS Chatbot Arena and almost ended up featuring it in my latest look at the best free LLMs. I only excluded it because Gemini 1.5 Pro from Google was already on the list. Impressive benchmark scores considering its size.
Considering the size + the Gemma models are commercially permissive open-weight models, so we can expect much better fine-tunes coming in the upcoming week.
